You Can Defy The Odds + Win 👊

Uncategorized Dec 13, 2024

How do you defy the odds in business when the entire world is telling you that things are “hard” right now?

This is a big subject that has come up for me multiple times over my career as a Chief Marketing Officer + Chief Operating Officer.

You’ve heard it before…….

❌ It’s a bad economy.

❌ Direct to consumer businesses are not what they used to be.

❌ It’s not 2015 anymore.

❌This product category is experiencing a downturn in the market.

❌It’s harder than ever to scale advertising spend.

Before you realize it, maybe, you too have started in on the chorus?

This has come up for me because recently I have engaged in a series of conversations with multiple people all echoing how difficult it is to scale and grow online businesses in 2024.

>>> And my experience could not be further from their truth and their  reality.

In fact, my clients are shattering records EVERY 👏SINGLE 👏 MONTH 👏and in 2024 they are experiencing record breaking sales days, months, and quarters.

So this got me thinking......

Why are some people succeeding in an environment where so many are focused on how hard, difficult, and worrisome it is?

Here are some of the elements that have allowed me and my clients to scale in what others would call challenging environments:

1️⃣ Mindset

When I am working on a business, I do not allow thoughts of worry, fear, and doubt to enter my mind. My only job is to compete against my own past performance.

And, I know, that the experience of the majority, by no means, has to dictate mine.

There are many ways to work and improve your mindset.

One in particular is to read about all of the people throughout history who defied the odds and achieved incredible feats in spite of the experience of the majority around them. I highly recommend, The Obstacle Is The Way, by Ryan Holiday. It will motivate you to realize that there are ALWAYS opportunities to create, build, and grow something of value. Even when it seems impossible, there have always been people doing the impossible.

…….Why can’t you be one of them?

It doesn’t matter what everyone else is doing. What matters is your ability to show up daily, and improve upon yourself, and all the elements of your business.

“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”

-George Bernard Shaw

2️⃣Focus

Want to drive revenue and grow your business?

Focus on what matters most: value.

What does this mean?

Ensure that you have your value proposition very dialed in, that you understand the solution that you offer, that you are clearly articulating your product and brand attributes, and that you are positioning yourself as a tool.

While everyone has spent the past few years complaining about direct to consumer brands, my clients have grown +1100%, and continue to outperform the majority and defy all of the odds.

They have done this because we focus on what truly matters: delivering value, and we articulate it clearly, and easily for everyone to grasp and understand.

3️⃣Take Action Where + When It Matters

People get nervous and reactive when they are listening to the crowds around them repeating doomsday scenarios. They change course, get impatient, and ruin any chances of scale-able growth.

I understand that there are only a few things that I have to be *really* *really* good at in order to win at the eCommerce game. And, when everyone around me is nervous, I do less and turn 150% of my attention to the actions that truly matter, and will truly scale a business.

In order to defy the odds, you need to do less.

Giving all of your attention to a few critical tasks will ensure that a business performs at a more efficient and thoughtful level.

What are these tasks?

✅Paid Advertising on Meta and Google

✅Email Marketing + Growing Your List

✅Direct response marketing content

If you win at these things, your business will grow and scale.

This means all my energy goes towards:

  • Messaging
  • Direct response style content for paid ads and email marketing
  • Tightening my processes and systems around both
  • Testing, Optimizing, and Iterating
  • Moving fast

When mindset, focus, and actions align you get powerful results.

In order to win at eCommerce you must have clarity that your mindset, focus, and actions are the greatest levers you have at your disposal.

When these three things align, there is clarity.

And clarity is a requirement for repeatable, consistent, and scale-able growth.

This is my proven (+100 million in eComm sales) simple plan:

📌Mindset

📌 Focus

📌 Action

THIS is how you defy the odds, shatter your own records, and chart your own path regardless of whether or not “things are hard” for others.

When you channel all of your energy into these three things, you emerge with clarity and as a result you have power.

And trust me, there is a lot of freedom that emerges as a result of the clarity you will embody with this simple plan.

Are you ready to defy the odds and watch your eCommerce business scale and grow in ALL environments?

I know you want to be in the 10% of eCommerce businesses that are succeeding and thriving.

And, I know that with the right tools, it is 100% possible for you.

Marissa
